The Spanish young talent Carlos Alcaraz and the Belarusian women tennis star Aryna Sabalenka shares the same birthday May 5.
Alcaraz turned 20 while Sabalenka turned 25.
Both Alcaraz and Sabalenka managed to win their respective tournaments. With the Spaniard successfully defending his title and the Belarusian winning her second Madrid Open title.
Alcaraz defeated Borna Coric in the semi-final of Madrid Open on his special day. As Sabalenka was not playing, she celebrated her birthday at home.
However, after advancing to the final, the Spaniard was asked to stay on the court where he received a large, tier-two cake.
The Belarusian was presented with a smaller, single-tier cake behind the scenes during the day.
Fans on twitter started doing comparison of the cake which caught the attention of Sabalenka’s compatriot Victoria Azarenka, who then tweeted on her twitter account re-posting two photos of the cake.
“Couldn’t be more accurate on the treatment,” the two-time Grand Slam tweeted.
It must be noted Alcaraz and Sabalenka registered their final wins on Sunday, May 8.
Alcaraz successfully defended his title after defeating the German lucky-loser Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 winning his 10th career title.
While Sabalenka clinched the title with an impressive win over world No. 1 Iga Swiatek 6-3 3-6 6-3. It was the 13th career title of the Belarusian tennis star and her second on the red dirt, which puts him in the elite group of players to win Madrid-Open more than once alongside Petra Kvitova (3), Simona Halep (2) and Serena Williams (2).
Alcaraz is the hot-favorite for the upcoming French-Open which begins on May 28 after winning back-to-back tournaments, Barcelona Open in April and now Madrid Open.
While we will be seeing the Belarusian tennis star in action in the Italian Open after a hectic week in Spain.
